Consuming versus participating

When you read this blog, you are a consumer.

When you comment, we enter into a conversation. You participate in the creation of a moment of communication.

That's one thing as a writer that I hunger for. I don't know if other writers do. But when someone reads something of mine I always want to know what they thought, not necessarily because I want an egoboo (although those can be nice) but because I prefer conversation. As long as they read (or don't read) and I don't hear back, I'm writing alone.

I want conversation, too. That's why I'm writing publicly. It would be easy to keep a paper journal, or one just on my home computer, if I didn't want conversation.

I am glad to have found your blog, Kai. (I am the author of Rubicon3, by the way) I am not very good at commenting on other people's blogs. Never sure what to say. But I did want to stop and say hello.
